Welcome to our project page for the proposed Ynni Celyn Energy Storage scheme. This webpage provides information on our proposals for a new 1GW energy storage project located between the villages of Corwen and Gwyddelwern, Denbighshire.

The Ynni Celyn Energy Storage site will incorporate:
The site is 75 acres in size, of which 24 acres would be developed for battery storage development and transmission substation.
November 2024
Public consultation
Our consultation process ran from 25th November 2024 to 3rd January 2025.
We held an information event on 25th and 26th November for the local community, where members of the team were on hand to answer questions and discuss the proposals in more detail.
Once we have reviewed all the feedback, we will finalise our plans and submit a full planning application to Denbighshire County Council. As part of the application, we will submit a document that summarises the comments received from the local community.
Denbighshire County Council will then conduct its own statutory consultation before determining the application.
We appreciate everyone who took the time to share their feedback. Engaging with the local community has been invaluable, and your comments are helping to shape our next steps. We’re now reviewing all the feedback before submitting our planning application to Denbighshire County Council.
Our commitment to communities
We are committed to supporting our communities through a Community Energy Transition Foundation, which invests in those areas where we have operational sites. The Foundation receives funding from each site, proportionate to its size.
Should the project go ahead, the foundation will invest in local initiatives that support the transition to net zero, ensuring significant local benefits from the delivery of national infrastructure.
We expect this project, if approved, could contribute around £1 million each year to the local areas.
